Basic cake mix


Ingredients

8 cup Cake Flour
1/4 cup Baking Powder
2 1/2 cup Vegetable Shortening
6 cup Sugar
1 1/2 tsp Salt


Directions
  1. In a large bowl, sift together cake flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  2. Mix well with a pastry blender, cut in shortening until the mixture is as fine as cornmeal.
  3. Put in a large airtight container.
  4. Label as basic cake mix and store in a cool dry place.
  5. Use with 10 to 12 weeks.
  6. Makes about 16 cups of mix
